HistoryDuring the Fall of 1999, I was unemployed and not really motivated to get a job. Needing a new hobby, I decided to look into creating my own web page. I didn't exactly know a great deal (or anything) about web design, nor did I have any idea what sort of sight to create. I finally came up with doing a site on the originators of Hip Hop from the 1970's and 1980's. I had some information in my head and a good number of books on the subject. I didn't have any web design knowledge so I purchased a book called "Learn HTML in 24 Hours" and set off to work with a program called Netscape Composer. The first design was barely workable, but I managed to hack my way through and on December 1, 1999, "To The Beat Y'all" debuted online on a free hosting service. In June of 2000, I purchased the doman name OldSchoolHipHop.Com and the rest is history. I started TheGagnepains.Com when Amy and I got married. It is currently being rebuilt from the ground up. In 2005, I started SixFlagsStLouis.Net for my day job. It isn't everything I want it to be, but it looks pretty good. Hopefully one of these days I'll have time to add more content. Most recently, in January 2006, I started StarWarsBooksOnline.Com. I had been reading a lot of Star Wars novels and thought, maybe I could put that reading to some good use. I've got a few other sites in mind, but at the moment I can barely find time to manage the ones I've got now. So they'll have to stay on the back burner for the time being.
All sites are currently hosted at HostGator.Com. I've had next to no problems with them and they have plethora of excellent features included in their plans. OldSchoolHipHop.Com Created in 1999 and managed in Dreamworks 8. StarWarsBooksOnline.Com Created in 2006 and managed in Joomla 1.5. SixFlagsStLouis.Net Created in 2005 and managed in Frontpage 2003, but soon will be Joomla 1.5 TheGagnepains.Com Created in 2004 and managed in Joomla 1.5
